Prompt #1
Learn from experience
“Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.”
– Oscar Wilde
The best way to make progress and get closer to your goals as a designer is to learn from experience. Repeat this process:
- Try something (e.g. a new skill or approach)
- Review how it turned out
- Use the experience you’ve just gained to know how to move forward
Prompt #2
Get better at typography
If you want to improve your overall design skills, get better at typography. Here’s some ways you can improve your typography skills:
- Browse Typewolf to get ideas for font combinations
- Watch this animated short video on the history of typography
- Learn from experience! Find a layout you like at Fonts In Use (filter by format) and recreate it
Prompt #3
How simple is your logo design?
Simplicity is something to strive for when designing logos. It’s important to both avoid overcomplicating your designs or making them too simple. Getting that balance is key.
A good method for testing the simplicity of a logo design is showing it to someone and asking them to draw it from memory in less than 10 seconds.
Try it yourself: draw logos from memory.
